WaBAM Weekend in the peaks 6th - 8th June 2008

This year are planning a weekend in the Peak District at Alstonefield from  6^th – 8^th June. We will be in  the middle of the Peak National Park with fantastic scenery and amazing roads. The event is still being planned, keep re-visiting this page for updates but will include the following.

Friday evening meet in The George from 7:30 pm onwards menu

Saturday will be a full days ride out including the cat and fiddle pass, snake pass etc. plus other spectacular roads.

Sunday Visit to Matlock Bath with all the other bikers

Accommodation

There are various forms available and its up to individual members to make their own booking and are not seen as an endorsement by the IAM or WABAM.

Camping
There is a campsite in Alstonefield. Loos, sinks, no showers but nice field in middle of village. Unbookable but should be OK in June . £3 per person per night (2007 prices)  check in at ‘Overdale’ on road to Ashbourne from village centre. Contact Peter Leeson  01335 310206

YHA
There are 2 standards of accommodation available both are self catering. Look at these links hostel  or camping barn

Local B&Bs/pubs/hotels.
Best place to look is the website www.alstonefield.com where B&Bs/self catering options in the village are listed.

Recommended by a friend Beechenhill Farm at Ilam (www.beechenhill.co.uk) which is only a couple of miles from Alstonefield
Wetton, Ilam, Thorpe, Tissington, Alsop en le Dale, Hulme End and Hartington are all villages within about 5 miles of Alstonefield – try looking at www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk or www.peakdistrict-nationalpark.com or www.visitpeakdistrict.com. If you think you will need a taxi at the end of the evening, there are three local numbers listed on the Alstonefield website.
